Emmie W. Frink was bom on October 17th, 1934, in Augusta, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Cinda Williams. A pursuer of excellence, she graduated from Lucy Laney High School, Augusta, Georgia, in 1953. Immediately following her high school graduation, she enrolled at Bethune Cookman College, which is now Bethune-Cookman University, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Home Economics was awarded to Emmie W. Frink in 1957; and, it was during her college tenure, she met and married Jno. S. Frink of Fernandina Beach, Florida in 1955. They were college sweethearts and, during their marriage of 46 years, they had two children.
Following her graduation and for nearly 40 years, Emmie was employed with the Volusia County Florida School System, where she carved out an outstanding career teaching the youth of Daytona Beach, Florida. Emmie positively impacted the lives of many at Bonner, Highlands and Tomoka Elementary Schools. She was considered by all as an outstanding, innovative and passionate teacher who always was attempting to inspire young minds.
Emmie was an active member of the community and would spend endless hours dedicated to community service. Over the years, her affiliations included active memberships with the Daytona Beach Chapter of the Links, Inc., Diamond Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., National Education Association, and the United Negro College Fund. Emmie served in various leadership positions within these organizations and often was sought for guidance. Emmie was also a Lifetime Member of Bethune-Cookman University's National Alumni Association, of which she gave generously of her time for the improvement of the college she loved so well.
Mrs. Frink's exemplary years of educational employment and community service are rec ognized by her many achievements including the National Association Award for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO); Former Miss Bethune-Cookman College; Volusia County School Board Certificate of Honor; and the Daytona Beach, Florida Chapter of Link's Certificate of Acclaim for Outstanding Service.
Emmie was an active member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Daytona Beach, Florida, for over 40 years.
Emmie is very much loved by her surviving sons, Bruce R. Frink, Tampa, FL, and Jacques R. Frink, Laurel, MD. She is survived also by one grandson, Bruce R. Frink II, Orlando, FL; one great grandson, Isaiah, Orlando, FL; two sisters, Ruth W. Armstrong, Chicago, IL, and Thomasina W. Walker, Augusta, GA; one brother, Donald E. Williams, Hauvelton, NY; two nieces, Renee' Armstrong, Atlanta, GA, and Nichelle Booker; three godchildren, Betty W. Ellis, Pensacola, FL, Susan H. Freeman, Daytona Beach, FL, and Angella J. Vann, West Palm Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jno. S. Frink.
