M rs. 1dell B. Ford was bom December 5, 1921 in Appling, Georgia to Mr. and Mrs. Gus (Carrie) Bennings. She departed this life on Monday, July 24, 1995 at 6:00 a.m.
Idell was a dedicated member of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church She served faithfully as President of the Senior Choir, Deaconess Board, and Missionary Board. She was also President of the Ten Wise Women Social Club for twenty-five years.
Idell lived in Augusta, Georgia for over fifty years and worked as a dietician at Episcopal Day School. She retired after thirty-five years of service. May 18, 1992 was declared "IDELL FORD DAY" by the mayor in honor of her service and many talents.
Idell had a positive impact on the lives of many. She was a very loving and kind person. She was always concerned with helping her family and friends. Her attributes were that of a beautiful person.
Idell leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Deacon Oscar B Ford, Sr. She was a loving mother to three sons, Oscar Ford, Jr., Phoenix, Arizona, Willie Ford, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Melvin E. Ford, Augusta, Georgia. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Jochannan, Mitchell, Tauna, Gerald, Glenn, Ma'Keba, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Jennie Jones, Augusta, Georgia; a brother, Euland Bennings, Augusta, Georgia; two uncles, Willie Bennings, Augusta, Georgia and Robert Bennings, New York; two aunts, Cora Jones and Lela Bennings, both of Augusta, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Gladys Bennings, Augusta, Georgia; a brother-in-law, Alexander Ford, Augusta, Georgia; like daughters, Dorothy F. Briggs, Augusta, Georgia and Annie J. Yancy, Sparta, Georgia; six nieces and two nephews.
