OBITUARY
A godly life ended 2:35 p.m. Friday, April 6, 1984 when Deacon Robert Evans was taken from us at the University Hospital Extended Care Facili ty. After so much suffering by Brother Evans, the Lord took from him all pain and took him to Himself, where there is no pain and no burden of a tear.
His enthusiasm for his religion, his willingness to pay the price and to do his best for his Lord as well as the community and his family, was his life purpose.
He has fulfilled that purpose and his friends and family, though they may weep awhile, should rejoice with him, and thank our heavenly father for the life he lived among us, for the lives he touched, and for taking him to the land of Glory as He has promised all the faithful.
Deacon Evans was born in Waynesboro, Burke County, Georgia on January 19, 1915 to the late Dave and Alice Varner Evans. He was con verted and baptized at an early age at the Thompson Bridge Baptist Church by the late Rev. Charlie Walker. He was ordained as a deacon January, 1951 by the late Rev. H. Mines.
On December 5, 1937, he united into holy matrimony with Maggie Lean Freeman and from this union, fourteen beautiful children were born.
He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife: Maggie F. Evans, five sons: Robert Lee Evans, Augusta; Thomas Evans, Fred Evans, Sr., George F. Evans, Sr., and Isadore Evans, Waynesboro; nine daughters: Elease E. Howard, Lucille Evans, Peggy E. White, Dianne Evans and Sharon E. Bell, Waynesboro; Katie E. Bennifield, Midville, Ludie E.
