Mr. Thomas James Donahue, Sr. was born to the late Roger and Abbie Wells Donahue in Plum Branch, South Carolina on July 12, 1914.
He spent most of his life in Augusta, Georgia and attended Haines Institute.
In 1936 he joined Christ United Presbyterian Church where he was affiliated with the Usher Board.
A veteran of World War II, he served honorably in the European Theater of Operations.
He was among the first group of returning Veterans to successfully pass the U.S. Postal examination for letter carriers. As a result he was appointed first to substitute, then later attained permanent status. He held this position until his retirement in 1969.
Mr. Donahue departed this life April 11, 1982.
Survivors include a very devoted wife, Mrs. Magnolia W. Donahue; one son Mr. Thomas James Donahue, Jr., Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Goff, Long Branch, N.J., Mrs. Ahtea Robinson, Baltimore, Md. and Miss Mary Donahue, Augusta, Ga. Two brothers, Roger Donahue, Jr. and Franklin Donahue both of Augusta, Ga. Four Aunts, Mrs. Amanda Crawford and Mrs. Mattie Wiggleton of Plum Branch, S.C., Mrs. Margaret Wells, Detroit, Mich. and Mrs. Carrie Brooks, Bronx, N.Y. One uncle, Mr. Norwood Wells of Spartanburg, S.C. four God-children, Captain Fred Sapp, Jr., U.S.A.F., Mrs. Cynthia R. Banks, Atty. Ellis R. Garnett and Master Wilson George Butler. Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
