Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Virginia Diggs was born on September 30, 1937 to the late Albeit and Elizabeth Currv. She was educated in the Richmond County School System and was a 1956 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School.
She was baptized at an early age and joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in 1956. She was a long time dedicated member of the E.A. Moss Gospel Choir and later became a member of the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the September Birth Month Club. Margaret loved to sing and enjoyed sharing her talent with her church family and friends.
On December 21, 1957, she married her lifelong companion and friend Joseph Diggs, Sr. During her marriage, she was able to travel all over the world to places such as: Hawaii, California, and Japan through the various LIS Army assignments of her husband.
Margaret (or Bve as she was affectionately known by her closest family and friends) was a strong Christian woman who found her greatest joy in her children. She often sang songs to them as her wav o f practicing for her many solos as a member of the E.A. Moss Choir. She found extreme joy in attending all of her children's events, be it sporting events or musical recitals over the years. She was an avid football and basketball fan and loved to watch her son Bubba during his years as a collegiate football player. Margaret raised her children in church and that is where you would always find them, bv her side.
Her employment history includes: University of Georgia Extension Services where she spent three years as a social worker. Her love for children was fulfilled when she joined the staff at Tabernacle Child Development Center where she spent nearly 31 years as a pre-school teacher. Mrs. Diggs touched many lives as an educator. People would often seek Mrs. Diggs' guidance and wisdom when seeking care for their children.
She leaves to mourn: a husband, Joseph Diggs, Sr., Augusta, Georgia; two daughters, Beverly Bern; Duluth, Georgia and Jocelyn Diggs, Lawrenceville, Georgia; two sons, Joseph "Bubba" (Nadine) Diggs, North Augusta, South Carolina and William Diggs, Miami, Florida; Future Son-in-law, Martin Haves, Lawrenceville, Georgia; five grahdchildfeh," Dre'w Diggs, Pembroke Pines, Florida, Gourgous Berry, Duluth, Georgia, Dominique Diggs, Pembroke Pines, Florida, Jazmine and Jada Diggs, Both o f North Augusta, South Carolina; .one brother, Marvin (Harriett) 'Curry, Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Patricia Powe, El Paso, Texas; a long time friend Doris Isom, Augusta, Georgia, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, relatives, and loyal friends.
