Obituary
jkzaaon <Dxan& U^LaHi, <x. of 112610th. Avenue, passed away a t the University Hospital on Thursday, July 3, 2004. He was born the seventh of twelve children to the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony (Mozelle) Dicks in Barnwell County, South Carolina on October 22,1921.
He received his early childhood education in the public school system of Barnwell County. A t an early age, he was converted and baptized a t the St. Peters B a p tist Church in Elko, S.C.
He was a World War II veteran and was employed for over 5 3 years as a Nursing A s s is ta n ta tth e V.A. Hospital. He loved helping people and made numerous friends in th a t capacity. He was also a master carpenter and ju s t a real good handy man around the house.
He was one o f the oldest living deacon ofthe Beulah Grove Baptist Church.
Shortly a fte r retiring from the V.A. in 1979, brother Dicks suffered his fir s t stroke. His health began to fail a t th a t point and in May of 1993, he suffered a severe stroke th a t left him unable to communicate verbally or to do anything for himself in a physical capacity. He was a patient a t the Blair House Nursing Facility fo r over six years.
He is survived by a devoted wife of over forty-six years, Mrs. Pubenia Colbert Dicks, Augusta, Ga., two sons; Mr. Frank (Jean) Dicks, Jr., and Deacon Paul (Lucille) Dicks, Sr., three daughters; Ms. Willie Mae White, Ms. Shirley Ann Dicks, and Mrs. Theodora Pouse, all of Augusta, Ga., one step-daughter, Mrs. Leona Pay Puffin; two sisters-in-law; Mrs. Viola (J.C.) Hall, Augusta, Ga., and Mrs. Ella Dicks, Brooklyn, N.Y., one brother-in-law; Deacon Pobert (Moriah) Colbert, Augusta, Ga., 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and a host of other relatives, church members and friends.
