OBITUARY
Almost all truths of religion have been attacked by its enemies but none of them have dared to say I shall not die. We shall all die, great and lowly, rkh and poor - none can avoid it. Death is the Golden Key that opens eternity. Solomon with his wisdom, Samson with his strength, Paul, David and other prophets of faith were not able to avoid death. So on Tuesday, July 27, 1982, God called home to be with him another of his faithful servants, Deacon Ernest Davis.
Deacon Davis, son of the late Marie Stone Davis and Lucious Davis was born on June 10, 1910 in Richmond County, Georgia.
When he was guite young, he was converted and baptized at the Thankful Baptist .Church where he served faithfully until his day was done. Wherever Thankful was involved - so was Ernest Davis, doing his best, giving his all.
He was united in holy wedlock to the late Mrs. Rebie E. Davis and this union was blessed with three children.
Deacon Davis was a master brickmason, by profession. Many build ings in .he CSRA are representative of the work of his hands.
He leaves to cherish fond memories two daughters, Mrs. Ernestine Williams and Mrs. Patricia Perry. One son, Sp-4 Ernest W. Davis. Three brothers, John, Joe, and Edward Davis, all of New York. One daughter-in-law Mrs. Shirley Davis. One son-in-law Sp-4 Chares A. Perry. Seven grandchildren, Tonia Y. Williams, Todd M. W Mams, Destany Sanders, Barbara A. Sanders, Jackie Sanders, Cedric Sanders and DeeDee Sanders. Two brothers-in-law, George N. Williams, Sr. and Horace P. Williams. Five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edward Davis, Mrs. Ella Davis, Mrs. Eslease Davis, all of New York, Mrs. Dorothy Davis of Altaden, Calif, and Mrs. H. P. Williams. One nephew, George N. MAY THE WORK IVE DONE, SPEAK FOR ME
May the work Ive done, speak for me, May the work Ive done, speak for s me, When Im resting in my grave and theres nothing
that can be said, May the work Ive done, speak for me. May the service Ive given, speak for me, May the service Ive given, speak for me, When Ive done the best I can and my friends
dont understand May the service Ive given, speak for me. The work Ive done, it seems so small - sometimes
it seems like the spirit is nothing at all. When I stand before my Judge, I want to hear Him
say "Well Done", May the work Ive done, speak for me.
