Helenia Tutt Curtis, daughter of Marial F. Tutt and the late General Morris Tutt, was
bom October 18,1943, in Appling, Georgia. On Friday evening, Helenia saw the light of Heaven as her soul took flight across death's stream. She was preceded in death by her brother, Master General Morris Tutt in 1953. Life for Helenia consisted of love and countless acts of kindness to her students and the greater community.
During Helenia's early years, the family relocated to Augusta, Georgia, where she received her educa tion at C.T. Walker Elementary School, A.R. Johnson Junior High School, and Lucy Craft Laney High School. Her additional educational milestones included a B.S. Degree in Biology from Paine College and her Masters of Education Degree from South Carolina State University. Following the completion of her formal education, she began to transfer her belief of the importance of an education to the many lives she nurtured and taught at Lucy Craft Laney High School and Glenn Hills High School. In May 2006, Helenia retired from Glenn Hills High School after 33 years of dedicated service to the Richmond County School System.
As Helenia matured spiritually, she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia. She moved her membership to Antioch Baptist Church, and in 1998, she joined Bethel A.M.E. Church so the family could worship together. She was a member of the Usher Board, The Choraliers, and the Lay Organization.
Helenia was a caring, loving, and giving person who spent most of her life imparting wisdom into the lives of young women in the Central Savannah River Area as a member of The Augusta Adult Society, Incorporated, as Advisor and Treasurer of The Rosa T. Beard Debutante Club, and as a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.

She is survived by: her loving mother, Marial F. Tutt, Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Lillian A. She also leaves an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
My Last Request
Please don't say that I gave up, just say that I gave in. D on't say I lost the battle, for it was G od's war to lose or win.
Please don't say how good I was, but that I did my best. Just say I tried to do what's right, to give the most I could, not do less.
Please don't give me wings or halos, that's for God to do. I want no more than I deserve, no extras, just my due.
Please don't give flowers, or talk in harsh tones. Don't be concerned about me now,
Pm well with God, Pve made it home. Don't talk about what could have been, it's over and it's done.
Just see to all my family's needs, the battle has been won. When you draw a picture of me, don't draw me as a saint,
Pve done some good, Pve done some wrong, so use all your paint.
Not just the bright and light tones, use some gray and dark In fact, don't put me down on canvas paint me in your heart. Don't just remember all the good times, but remember all the bad.
For life is full of many things some happy and some sad. But if you must do something, then I have one last request
Forgive me for the wrongs Pve done and with the love that's left
Thank God for my soul's resting, Thank God for all who loved m e,
Praise God who loved me best.
I took His hand when I heard Him call <rV I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play, Tasks left undone must stay that way I found peace at the end o f the day. I f my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times o f sorrow, I wish you the sunshine o f tomorrow, My life's been full, I savored much, G ood friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief D on't lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your hearts, and share with m e, G od wanted me NOW, He has set me free.
