"Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid at my departure, for to me to die is gain. "
On October 1, 1994, Vemell Broadwater Cummings exited this world and entered heaven, with peace on her face that only comes with knowing Jesus as Lord.
She was bom January 10, 1956 to Nancy Young Broadwater and the late Julius Broadwater. In 1973 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie W. Cummings. To this union three children were bom.
Vemell was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She attended W.E. Parker High School and was a dedicated employee at Shaw Plant in Edgefield, South Carolina for seventeen years.
She was a devoted wife and mother who always put the needs of her family before her own.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Johnnie W. Cummings; two daughters, Keidra Lachell and Keneka Vontese Cummings; one son, Johnnie Cummings, all of North Augusta, SC; a loving mother, Nancy Broadwater; three sisters, Clarinda Mealing, Essie Collier, and Sylvia Mims; seven brothers, James Nabritt, Henry Broadwater, Lenward Broadwater, Herman Broadwater, Leon Broadwater, and Elisha Broadwater, all of North Augusta, SC and Thomas Broadwater o f Cedar Rapids, Iowa; devoted father and mother-in-law, Rev. Willie (Lena) Thomas, Augusta, GA; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Private Visitor
The other night while everyone was asleep, you had a private visitor. He had no need o f an introduction for you knew Him by name. He walked silently into your room so as not to disturb the others. His visit came as no surprise to you, for you were patiently waiting. You knew He woidd come for He promised He woidd. Yes, we know it was no easy choice you had to make but you gave Him your hand in trust. For somehow you knew He knew what was best for you. He carried you away, far, far away to a city not made with hands. A place He promised He would prepare. A city with streets o f clear gold where everyone is young and no one will ever grow old. A happy place, a beautiful place, where you patiently waitfor each o f us to enter. So until we meet again Vernell, we bid you farewell!!!!!

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for every act o f kindness shown during their hours o f bereavement.
