ROSE ELLA PARKER CUMMINGS was born on June 12, 1925 to the union of Howard and Mary Parker in Seneca, South Carolina. She was the youngest of twelve children, nine sisters and two brothers, all of whom preceded her in death. As a child her family relocated to Augusta, Georgia, where she united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She later became a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church. She remained an active member of this church until her death. Mrs. Cummings was active in the Beulah Grove Senior Choir, the Matron Circle, her Sunday School Class and a group of close friends who spent time visiting the sick and shut-in. She loved bowling, working crossword puzzles, walking, playing scrabble and pokeno with her family. She loved poetry and authored a book of poems entitled Poems From the Heart o fa Rose. She retired from the Medical College of Georgia, where she worked many years as a Receptionist/Clerk in the Radiology Department. She had a particular love for gardening and growing vegetables. Her name speaks volumes to her love of growing roses.
Mrs. Cummings was married to Mr. Calvin F. Cummings, Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union six children were born: three daughters, Mrs. Sandra Cummings (Carroll) Harley, III, Ms. Janice LaVerne Cummings and Ms. Sharon C. Scott, all of Augusta, Georgia; and three sons, Calvin Frank (who preceded her in death) (Sheridan) Cummings, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia, Reverend Dr. Kenneth W. (Anita) Cummings, Sr. of Frankfort, Kentucky and Victor (Cheryl) Cummings of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She also leaves to cherish her memory: twelve grandchildren, Angela Dallas, Diallo Cummings, Celeste Cummings, Dexter Cummings, Michael Cummings, Sr., Kenneth W. Cummings, Jr., Kenya Cummings, Kendra Cummings, Rashad Cummings, Rashanda Cummings, Bryan K. Scott and Brandon K. Scott; twelve great grandchildren, Tyson, Justin, Parker, Diata, Dahry, D'mya, Jazzmine, Michael, Jr. and Shaiilainn; one great grandchild, Shonte Nicole Cummings, who preceded her in death. She was also a great grandmother to Christiana, who we called Cece and Alexandria, who we call Ally. Mrs. Cummings was also a surrogate mother to Dwala Walker and Glenn Gaines, her niece and nephew.
She also leaves to cherish her memory: one brother-in-law, James (Madine) Cummings; sister-in-law, Debra Cummings of Augusta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, loving friends and church family.
Mrs. Cummings was a part of a circle of close visiting friends: Mrs. Florence Maris, Mrs. Mary Beard, Mrs. Bessie Walker and Olivia King, who preceded her in death.

Poetry by Mrs. Rose E. Cummings
Look at God% greatness, The air we breathe, thefood we eat.
From His garden o f all things. This is the bounty o f His lovefor us.
There is not one reason To make usfuss.
It is the timing of his season. He has a really great reason.
It's not any our doing; It's always His blessing and sharing.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation for all acts of kindness and love shown to us during this time of bereavement. We especially want to express our appreciation to the 4 MICU, 5 West nursing unit, and all of the staff and doctors of the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, who served her with great care and compassion. May God richly bless each of you.
