On December 31, 1998, Beautiful life is that whose span, Is spent in duty to God and man, beautiful calm when the course is run, Beautiful twilight at set of sun, beautiful death with a life well done.
trustee ffobn ().^B.) Courtney, was bom in Richmond
County, Georgia to Mable W. Courtney and the late Freddie Courtney. At an early age he was converted and baptized at the First New Hope Baptist Church, under the leadership of his grandfather the late Rev. J. B. Williams.
He attended school in Richmond County. He worked for Babcock and Thermal Ceramics for forty-four years. On July 9, 1953, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Geneva Clegg Courtney. To this union one daughter and four sons were bom.
J.B. was a Trustee, and has served as chairman, member of the F. C. Henderson Gospel Choir, Club #1 and was faithful until his health failed. He was a very nice and caring person, devoted husband, a good father, grandfather and son.
Precious memories will forever be in the hearts of his surviving loved ones: a daughter, Rosalyn C. McBride; four sons, Fred Courtney, Melvin Courtney, James Courtney and Ronald Courtney, of Augusta, GA; mother Mable Courtney, of Augusta GA; two aunts, Sarah Durphey and Estella Hampton, of New York; mother-in-law, Daisy Clegg; daughter-in-law, Renee Courtney; son-in-law, Johnny McBride; fourteen grandchildren; devoted cousin, Geraldine Jackson; three brothers-in-law, Edward Clegg, Robert Clegg and Marvin Clegg, all of Augusta, GA; faithful big sister, Claudia Riley; and a host of cousins, other relatives and faithful friends.

Daddy, life could have never prep ared usfo r this trial. Losing the first man we've ever loved.
This has been the hardest task life has thrown us. We're here trying to be strong without momma. But when we think o f life without you too. We have a newfo u nd purpose. And that's to keep your memory alive. We Love You Your Children
