LOUISE M. CORLEY transitioned on Wednesday, July 17,2013. She was born on January 5,1912 to the union o f Governor Mays and Emma Trotter in Augusta, Georgia. She was the middle child o f three children. Her husband, Fletcher Corley, parents, sister and brother, and daughters and Edward Handy, Sr. preceded her in death.
She received her education in Richmond County Public School System. She continued her educational goal by enrolling in Adult Classes at T. W. Josey Tfechnical School. Louise began her career as a Mother's Helper and eventually became a Supervisor at the Living Quarters for Medical Personnel at Fort Gordon. She retired after working thirty-five years for the installation.
Generosity was the cornerstone o f her personhood. When items were given to her or discarded, she could see where someone, especially children could benefit from those item. Everyone who knew anything about Louise knew she was an extraordinary strong willed, straight forward, sometimes a little feisty (smile), energetic, loving and faithful woman who loved God, her family and friends.
Louise joined Thankful Baptist Church at age thirteen and remained a faithful and active member for eighty-eight years. A Church she dearly loved. She was the oldest church member and mother o f the church. She song with the Church Senior Choir, Read Poems for the Senior Citizens Ministry and participated in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry and Sunday School.
She was a member o f several organizations such as The American Legions, NAACP and Girl Scouts o f America. She was honored by WKZK Radio Station, Thankful Baptist Church, The Senior Citizens and Women in White Ministries of Thankful and the President o f the United
States. In her own unique and individual way, she touched the hearts of all and will be missed by so many and will forever be remembered in the hearts and minds o f all who knew her as the woman who through thick and thin endured all and proved to us all that "it is not over until God says it's done." Louise leaves to celebrate her legacy: her son, Edward Handy, Jr., Providence, RI; grandchildren, Debra (A L) Smith, Fayetteville, GA, Adrian (Joyce) Ragland, Philadelphia, PA, Jacques Moore, Bronx, NY and Yolanda Ragland, Key West, FL; four great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; and a host o f other relatives and friends.

Sunset and evening star, and one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning o f the bar, when I put out to sea, hut such a tide as moving seems asleep, too fu ll for sound and foam, when that which drew from out the boundless deep turns again home. Tivilight and evening bell, and after that the dark! And may there be no sadness o f farewell, when I embark; for tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place. The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face when I have crossed the bar.
