"Had I known better - 1would've done better!''
Famous last words of the late Sister Laura Claridy! Many of us go through life with never a thought of the sins of omission and commission. That is, neglecting or leaving undone those things which God has asked us to do, or doing those things that are forbidden, things we were warned to avoid.
In life, when we live and learn, we then learn how to live! No human being is blameless, still God does not lay our sins to our charge.
"If you have one slice of bread - share it!"
In keeping with the scripture (Luke 6:38), Sister Claridy taught "Give to others, and God will give to you...a generous helping, poured into your hands - all that you can hold." Her message shined through her method. Let us go and do likewise.
"Successful business woman who loved to entertain"
Not only was Sister Claridy blessed when it came to the business world, she had the gift to entertain well. She never fell short in her preparation of spare ribs and hot dogs during earlier years in Newark, New Jersey. She also went out of her way to host, by having friends over who thought well of her, and encouraged and provoked her to love and continuous good works.
"She was taught to fear God"
Sister Claridy, raised by her grandmother, was taught to fear (have a worshipful
respect for, honor, and reverence) the only True and Living God! words that are to guide us throughout our life span, and are to be passed on to those who come after us.
"An Overorotective Love"
As a caring, loving mother, Sister Claridy knew what the world had to offer. She was acutely aware of what lied in store for her daughters and son had she not prepared them for real life. She led with an iron hand! Doing her best to keep them on track she was there for them, even if it meant having to snatch them back in the path of righteousness. She never neglected her responsibility as a mother rather she used her strong constitution to stand her ground as head of her family.
"Our Father"
"O u r f a t h e r "was one of Sister Claridy's favorite songs. She'd often walk
through the house singing with an uplifted voice. The flip side of her strong will was gentleness. She had a heart of gold. The legacies left are many. She will forever be loved and remembered by her family. Some of the traits and characteristics passed on to her daughters are cooking, financing, and shrewd business management.
"i eft to Cherish her Memories"
(She was preceded in death by a son, Zachary Ross) Three daughters, Rosiyn Benekin, Jewel Renee (SFC Retired James) Green, Judith Campbell. Six grandchildren, Carla (James) Sally, Larry Benekin, Nikki (Jerry) Dinkins, Tom Tenniel Thomas, and Tyrell Singleton. Twelve great grandchildren, lifelong friend and niece, Minnie Ross, great nephew, Norman (Peggy) Ross,
