Images frozen in time, moments instantly captured, and the creation of photographs that give us a glance into the past. This is the very definition ofphotography.
A lb ert Carter was a student of this great
art. During his lifetime, he m astered his craft and left a legacy of photographs for our com m unity to cherish. This body of work encompasses the ordinary and the extraordinary m om ents in time. Albert Carter's personal life was also exem plary of these very moments. He endured polio and num erous surgeries. From this ordeal, he em erged w ith an undeniable spirit and will to live. His adversity seem ed to create in him a love for life that revealed itself in his pictures.
On O ctober 4, 2010, God called an o th er one of his children into His m agnificent Kingdom. He was bo rn July 20, 1922, to the late N athaniel carter, Sr. and Jabie Johnson Carter, Grovetown, Georgia.
Albert Carter was a photographer, but also a true artist. A photographer m ust have an eye for background, light, imagery, and a sense of tim ing to capture the perfect picture. This talent was nurtured during photography training at Thskegee Institute. He matriculated through their program, and became an expert at producing "still images." Albert Carter was a highly sought after photographer of his day. He took photographs at weddings, family functions, graduations, yearbook sittings, and num erous city and social functions around th e CSRA. His body of work includes photographs taken at m any HBCU'S, including Paine College. O ur com m unity was blessed to have a talent of this m agnitude within our midst, and his work will continue to carry forward the African American legacy of this area.
He had siblings to precede him in death: Mamie Brim, Elease Mims, N athaniel Jr., N athaniel, Joseph, and H iriam Carter, Buffalo, New York.
He leaves to cherish his m em ory: th ree siblings, Julia Major, Nora (M arion) T hurm o n d and William Carter, Buffalo, NY; two devoted cousins, Alfred Johnson and Betty J. Johnson, Augusta, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews that are all saddened by his passing.

One of the most magnanimous blessings that God can bestow upon a family is having the Care-Love-Support of friends w hen it is needed the most.
With heats filled with thanksgiving and humbleness, we are grateful to each of you who displayed compassion and kindness in a myriad of ways during our loved one's illness as well as the time of bereavement.
We especially w ant to thank the Staff at Golden LivingWindermere Center Nursing Home and two devoted cousins, Alfred and Betty Johnson.
