Born in Clarendon County on October 5, 1912, she was the younger daughter of the late William Canty Nelson and Maggie Slater Nelson. Educated in the public schools of Clarendon County and Sumter, she was a graduate of Morris College and Benedict College. ^ Weeded The Quiet
1 needed the quiet so Tie drew me aside, Into the shadows where we could confide, ftway from the bustle where all the day long 7 hurried and worried when active and strong. .
1 needed the quiet, tho atfirst 1 rebelled But gently, so gently, my cross He upheld find whispered so sweetly ofspiritual things Tho weakened in body, my spirit took wings To heights never dreamed of when active all day. He loved me so greatly Tie drew me away.
7 needed the quiet. No prison my bed, 73ut a beautiful valley of blessings instead. ft place to grow richer in Jesus to hide. 7 needed the quiet so Tie drew me aside.
