~ Obituary --
Fred Leon Butler was born in Saluda, South Carolina, the second child of a family of eleven. He is the son of the late Emma Mobley But. er and H enry B utler. He died a t his hom e in Saluda on W ednesday m orning, A ugust 27, 19fi9.
In 1934 he m arried M innie Lee Irving. To this union six children were born: two daughters and four sons; one son preceded hirn in death. He was a loving father and an understanding husband who cam m anded the respect of all who knew him.
A t an early age he joined the ML Enon Baptist Church, w here he served faithfully as a Deacon, Church T reasurer and Superintendent of the Sunday School until his health, failed. To the end he kept the Chris tian faith.
He leaves to m ourn, his devoted wife, Mrs. Minnie Lee Butler; two dau ghters, V ernelle B. Chapm an of P asadena, Calif., and L aveda B. B rayboy of S um ter, S. C.; th ree sons. Bennie W a rre n of Saluda, H enry Clinton and R obert Douglas of the home; eight grandchildren; a step m other, Mrs. Addle Butler, two sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law ; five siVors, Blanche Amey of Saluda, Mable Trving and M ozeba Bivens of Jam aica, N. Y., Cornelia W illiam s of W ashington, D.C., and A nnie J. H arper of Columbia; two brothers, H enry H. Butler of Newport News, Va., and R obert B utler of Saluda; seven sisters-in-law , eight brothersin- law, two uncles and two aunts, and a host of neices, nephews and m any relatives and friends.
