Reflections o f Life
Juliette K. Burton was bom March 22, 1927 in Augusta, Georgia to the late Thomas and Lucille Ketch. Her mother died at an early age and she was raised by her father, Thomas and aunts, Betty Holloway and Sabre Ketch.
Juliette was a graduate of Haines Institute. She worked at Pilgrim Life Insurance for a brief time before joining the family business of Dent's Funeral Home. Juliette devoted her time as the 3rd generation working the family business until her illness. She was a very generous and compassionate person who served her community as a businesswoman. She was a licensed funeral director of Dent's Undertaking Establishment and a member of the 8th District of the Georgia Funeral Service Practioners Association. She was also a member of Haines Alumni Association, The Debonaires, The Augusta Chapter Links, The Women Civic Club and the Sand Hill Community Center.
Juliette was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served on the Red Rose Auxiliary and the Sanctuary Choir Ministries.
Juliette was an extraordinary woman who never missed an opportunity to give of herself to her community, her family and church.
Throughout her illness, she was a happy, spirited resident of Westwood and Kentwood Health Facilities. Before the angels called Juliette home, she was provided comfort by Trinity Hospice Care.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Elias Burton, Sr. and one brother, Thomas Ketch, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Olga B. McKinnon; one son, Bruce Bates; two grandsons, Andre Bates and A'Dante McKinnon; two sisters, Thomasina Ketch and Velvie-Ketch Washington; two stepmothers, Lucille Ketch and Velvie B. Ketch; one sister-in-law, Faye Ketch; one brother-in-law, Thomas Washington; two nephews, G. B. Hannan and Thomas Ketch, III; four nieces, Neidra K.
