Reflections of the Life of Mrs. Dorothy Burton
Where does one begin, when they speak to the issue of love, because that is what her life was. Love knows no boundaries when it comes to caring and compassion for others. Every person in need was a call to our mother to relieve their distress in whatever capacity her resources allowed. Dorothy Elizabeth
Bryant was born on January 23, 1933 to Mr. Calvin Bryant Sr. and Ms. Elizabeth Davis Bryant in Augusta, Georgia. She attended the public school system in Richmond County, GA; where upon completion she attended Technical School to become one of the first Certified Operating Room Technicians. This was a very special accomplishment during her time and era. She worked for 35 years at Talmadge Memorial Hospital, which had become the Medical College of Georgia upon her retirement. It was her job to set up the operating room relative to the surgical instruments and pass them to the surgeons during surgical procedures. She was very professional in carrying out her responsibilities and took pride in her contribution to saving lives and restoring health to others. She possessed a deep and intense love for God. To this end, she taught her children the importance of serving God and adhering to the principles of the Holy Bible. She did not do this in a preachy or mandated fashion. She taught respect for elders; to be honest in dealing with others. She taught the importance of doing any job given, well. She taught her sons to respect women and her daughters to respect themselves, and to conduct themselves like ladies. She taught us to respect those in authorities and to hold life sacred. She believed that all people were equai in the eyes of God and therefore should be equal in our eyes. However, mostly she believed in the power of prayer. She believed that prayer could move mountains, no matter how high or broad they were. Oh how she prayed. When someone needed urgent help, she would say, "Oh God 911!" She believed so strongly in family, and held true friends as a sacred trust from God that she valued and cherished.

When she entered into rest on Monday, September 3, 2012, there was no fear, for she believed with all of her heart that deaths' power is only a temporary inconvenience for the Christian. Her faith had taught her that after her rest, she would rise again to forever reside with Jesus. She was the loving wife of Mr. Andrew Burton. They have been faithfully wedded for 50 years. Mother was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand mother. She truly loved everyone, and that love was reciprocated by all. She was a member of the Ebenezer Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Augusta, GA. What she learned in her study of God's Word, she tried to pass on to her eight children, which include: Vincent Earl Alberty Sr. (deceased); J. Calvin Alberty, Sr. (Evelyn); John Earl Alberty, Jr. (Anne); Terrie Alberty Jenkins (Robert); Gregory Tyrone Alberty; Cheryl Denise Epps; Willie Hutto, Jr; and Melanie Cummings (Stanley). Her father and mother Calvin Bryant Sr. and Elizabeth Davis Bryant preceded her in death. Her siblings left to honour her passing are: Calvin Bryant Jr., Mary Bryant Beard, Willie Edward Dicks, Nancy Marian Jones, Ruth Moore, and Georgia Ann Merriwether. She was not an ornithologist, but oh how she loved to watch birds. She would sit at her window and stare out at the birds for hours. She would talk about them as though she knew them personally. Perhaps she saw a freedom and beauty in birds that others took for granted, but she loved these little creatures of God and they brought joy to her life. Finally, what you saw with sister Burton is what you got. She was authentic and genuine. She was the same wherever she was. She was consistently sweet. She was kind to a fault. It was said that she would give away the house if it was not tied down. If it is true that God loves a cheerful giver, then mother was loved by God above any words of expression. Because of the life she lived and the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, we believe with all of our hearts that we will see her again. It is never easy to lose, even for a short while, someone that you love so dearly. We will continue to trust in God, fight the good fight, and die daily to ourselves; because we want to see Jesus, our Lord, our Savior, and our Elder brother again. And we also want to see our mother, sister, grand and great-grand mother, aunt, cousin, and friend again!

THINGS OUR MOTHER SAID AND HER FAVORITE BIBLE VERSES
She Spoke "I JUST LOVE THE LITTLE BIRDS."
Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and
be glad in it.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world
She Spoke "OH I JUST LOVE TO HEAR THE RAIN."
She Wrote "Lord help me to always give, give and give until I die."
Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God .. .
She Spoke "How can you pray and worry at the same time?"
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I
say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you
Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these
my brethren, ye have done it unto me

Mother
Clouds, they still pass overhead, beneath the sunless sky. The earth still turns as my heart yearns for mother to come by.
It was only just a week ago, since she called my name, And I declare in my despair, my entire world has changed
But I am not an infidel that does not believe and hope. And yet it seems it's all a dream, as I try so hard to cope.
My strength, it does not come from man, but from a Holy God. And I can sense and feel His love deep within my heart.
He knows what's best in all things, yes even mother's death. He knew that some of us would hurt, until not a tear was left.
But I trust Him, even in my pain; He is so much joy to me. What death has done, God will undo, and mother will be free.
She'll hear a mighty trumpet sound, a blast that wakes the dead The saints all rise in angelic skies, with crowns upon their heads.
But right now I sorely miss her, as she rests and waits on God Right now I want to kiss her, and right now is so very hard.
So I listen to my favorite song, at least a line or two, And once again my soul has peace, to help me make it through
It says, "What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer."
So l`ve taken it to Him, all my grief, my tears and pain. And I'm glad to know that the sun still shines, even when it rains

Weeping may endure a night, but joy the next day brings, And because He has the Keys of life, death has lost its sting.
My mother she will rise again, because Jesus made a way, Her fate is sealed, but oh friend how will, you fair in that great day?
Don't take this life for granted, don't be so cavalier. Just know that in one heartbeat, you too might not be here.
So take the time to study, the word of God and pray. And always know that God's great love seeks you every day.
Mother raised her little children, the best way that she knew. And forever tried to teach us, that the Word of God is true.
She believed in God's great power, but only sought His love. In the midst of every struggle, she called to Him above.
She believed that prayer changed things, and that Jesus rose on high. And that one day in the cloud above, we would meet Him in the sky.
Once our mom sees Jesus, she will search around the throne, To look for all her children in her glorious heavenly home
So siblings let us live our lives, in grace and free from sin, So that we can see our savior and be with mother once again;
Remember how she held us, and kissed us on our face, Remember how secure we felt, in the warmth of her embrace.
So let's not disappoint her. Let's run this race with care. I tell you now, and you know that mom, will look to see us there.
I know that we all love her, but Jesus loves her more. And He did right, on that night that she passed through sleep's door
Nothing more can hurt her now, not sickness, death or pain. Let us cherish her precious memories until we meet with her again.

YOU MAY HEAR THE MINISTER SPEAK TO YOUR HEART TODAY; USE THIS AREA TO WRITE YOUR NOTES. REMEMBER, GOD LOVES YOU.

"GIVING YOUR LIFE TO CH R IST"
As you sit here at our mother's celebration of a life lived, let us share with you her passion.
1. She believes that we should love and respect everyone and treat them with dignity.
2. She wanted everyone to know Jesus and to be saved into His kingdom.
3. So this is how you give your life to Him.
A) . Acknowledge that God is God.
B) . Know that God is perfect and we are not. We are sinners desiring to be saved by His grace.
C) . So acknowledge that you are a sinner
D) . Ask the Father for forgiveness in Jesus' name.
E) . Know that God is ready, willing and anxious to forgive you. So you do not have to beg, just ask.
F) . Because Jesus died for our salvation all we have to do is pray this simple prayer.
PRAYER Father, I come to you in the name of your son Jesus Christ. Please forgive me for my sins and accept me as one of your own. Teach me your ways and I will seek to follow you all the days of my life.
Yeah, it's just that simple, because God is so good!
