Dear God, You have given, and now you have taken from us. Even in our grief and pain, we continue to call You "Blessed." Obituary

"And God shall wipe away all tears from there eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away." ~ Revelation 21:4
Mr. Walter W. " Burns, who departed this life on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 was born September 5, 1943 in Burke County, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Mamie Lou Jones) Burns. Walter grew up in a family of nine siblings. And like all his siblings, he was nurtured in a Christian home. He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as a child. He was baptized in Bottsford Spring Baptist Church of Burke County. He attended the Public Schools of Burke and Richmond Counties. He later joined New Zion Hill Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Thomas Sapp. In 1969, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Lelia M. Davis. This was a union filled with "the fruit of the spirit" for 33 years. Our hearts are heavy right now, but this we know: "We can cast all our cares upon Jesus for He cares for us." Walter leaves to cherish his precious memory, his loving and devoted wife, Lelia M. Burns, Augusta, GA; three brothers, Arthur (Ida) Burns, Macon, GA, Robert Burns and Henry T. Burns, both of Augusta, GA; five sisters, Evelyn (George) Burgess, Alice (Willie) Johnson, Mildred (Levi) Godbee, all of Augusta, GA, Mamie (Ruben) Samuels, North Augusta, SC and Mary (Larry) Galloway, Crestview, FL; three sisters-in-law, Gussie (Willie) Dunn, Gloria Hampton and Linda Henry, all of Augusta, GA; three brothers-in-law, Willie Davis, Augusta, Homer (Robin) Davis, Atlanta, GA; and Jimmy Lee Davis, Millen, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Love Through Friendship
What made us friends in the long ago When first we met? Well, I think I know,
The best in me and the best in you, Hailed each other because we knew, That always and always since life began Our being friends was part of Gods plan.
The love light in our eyes, In the tone of our voice, In the touch of our hand. Is nothing more than the reflection of His Love in our hearts.
Loving and dedicated wife, Lelia Burns

<Deatfi Is OnCy A. Tart ofLife

We enter this world from the great unknown;

and God gives each spirit a form of its own.

And endows this form with a heart and a soul;

to spur man on to his ultimate goal.

**

For all men are born to return as they came

and birth and death are in essence the same

And man is but born to die and arise

beyond this world in beauJjjSierMies.

The purpose of death which"If^but to gain,

life everlasting on Gods great Domain.

And no one need make this journey alone,

for God has promised to take care of His own.
