OBITUARY
Mrs. Mary F. Burley was born on October 5, 1887 in Lincolnton, Georgia, where she received her early education.
Believing that this day would come sooner or later she was converted and joined the Pleasant Grove C. M. E. Church where she became an active worker in the Church and continued so until she moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1919.
In 1920 Sister Burley became a member of the Miles Memorial C. M. E. Church, because she knew that she must be "faithful until death" to obtain the crown. She was a lovely person, never complaining; and an ardent worker.
The deceased was especially devoted to the work as a Missionary, and was a sincerely dedicated Stewardess, and never stopped because she was tired.
The deceased was married twice, once to Mr. Robert Willie Murray. Four children were born to this marriage: with two surviving, Mr. Lloyd Murray, Vallejo, California; and Mrs. Alma Ollie, Detroit, Michigan. The second marriage was to Rev. William Burley. From this marriage two child ren were born: Mrs. Willie B. Polk, Augusta, Georgia; and Mrs. Carrie L. Anderson, Fairfield, California. Both surviving. Other survivors are: three nephews: Mr. Alien Boyd, Mr. Willie Boyd, Lincolnton, Georgia and Mr. Willie Freeman, Augusta, Georgia; one niece, Miss Margaret Freeman, Au gusta, Georgia; seven grand children, 11 great grand children; one daughterin-law, Mrs. Estell Murray, Vallejo, California; three sons-in-law, Mr. Coles R. Polk, Augusta, Georgia; Mr. Ralph Ollie, Detroit, Michigan, and M/Sgt. Samuel Anderson, San Bernardino, California, and a host of other fellow Churchmen and Christians to follow.
Today we are silent to pay tribute to a person who has lived among us as "one who went about doing good" and who always put Christ first in every thing she did. During her years of illness she leaned heavily on the Lord. She was not one to push herself forward, but always in the background working, praying, and doing everything she was asked to do for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Quietly as she lived, she passed on at 11:47 Sunday Night.
"Theres an open gate at the end of the road Through which each must go alone And there, in light we cannot see, Our Father claims His own."
