T he Obituary
Today we bow in humble submission to thank you, God, for sending a baby boy, James Olen Brown, born to the late Robert Sr. and Willie Ann Brown on March 4, 1930, in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
We thank you for allowing him to grow into manhood and uniting in Holy Matrimony to Beatrice Roseboro on December 24, 1954.
We thank you for giving James the desire to become converted and join the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Bennettsville, South Carolina. After moving to Wagener in 1955, the family united with the Saron Baptist Church. He served as Adult Choir Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of the Board of Deacons.
We thank you for James' family who will continually rejoice in his memory. A devoted wife, Mrs. Beatrice R. Brown; son, Mr. Hyder Olen Brown of Wagener, South Carolina; daughter, Cheryl Janet-Brown Mobley, Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Christopher & Carrie Brown, Wagener, South Carolina and Jordan Alexandria, Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Mr. Robert Brown, Jr. and Mr. John W. Brown, Washington, DC; sisters, Mrs. Annie Ruth Brown-David, Bennettsville, South Carolina, Mrs. Thelma Brown-Munnerlyn, St. Albans, New York, and Mrs. Theola Brown-Melton, Augusta, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Janice L. Brown; son-in-law, Alex Mobley; four sisters-in-law; eight brothers-in-law; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
As a family we do not see James' life as a loss. He lived his life as he loved it, serving his home, church, children, and community. He never lost his faith, his humor, nor his love for Christ and people. He came to the end of his season UNDEFEATED.
THE FAMILY
IN LOVING MEMORY A light from the household is gone
A voice we loved is stilled A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
T'was hard to part with one so dear We little thought the time was near. Farewell dear one, your life is past Our love for you till the end will last.

OUR TRIBUTE
He has seen the sunrise with the Master Has seen the rose-bright morning all aglow. He has touched the tender leaves o f healing, And lingers where the clear blue waters flow. He has heard the golden bells and their soft-ringing; Beheld the sunlit towers o f heaven so bright; With Him he walks in heaven's fairest gardens. Where are ferns so green, and tender lilies white.
He has seen the sunrise with the Master Earth's long and weary night has passed away, A ll his pain and earthly cares have been forgotten
In that land o f quiet joy and endless day.
