chapter of his life concluded Oct. 18, 2012 at his birthplace.

Grady was the oldest son of the late Grady and Fannie Wilson

Brown. Preceding him in death beside his parents were his sisters:

Agnes B. Morris and LaVerne B. White; and brother Ralph T. Brown.

Grady, Jr. as he was affectionately called was baptized May 1959 by the late Rev. I. J. Yancey at the Antioch Baptist Church where he participated in Sunday school and youth programs. He attended Antioch until his health declined. The road to promise continued as he was educated at Richmond County public schools: C. T. Walker, J. F. Davidson, A.R. Johnson and Lucy C. Laney. Grady had heart, as exhibited being a Cub Scouts at the Bethlehem Community Center. He enjoyed baseball and playing drums.

He was an older brother who loved and protected his family. His family could always count on him to tell them the truth whether or not you wanted to hear. He was able to attract many people through his friendly nature while not allowing himself to be bombarded by many. His family, community and relationships were centered on his birth place. As a member of his community, he supported the ideals of inclusion for the betterment of all people. As a student he excelled and was adored by several of his teachers. Mrs. Willette Stone Wallace and Mr. Grady Abrams were two teachers of whom he really adored, each having recognized his intellect and math aptitude.

Grady Jr.'s work ethic began at home, working for his parents in their community grocery store. He resided in Augusta, GA and New York most of his adult life working in the food service industry as a "waiter and bartender". On this journey he enjoyed working as a server at the Augusta Country Club where several friendships were honed.

Grady S. Brown is survived by his devoted son, Akenga (Tiffany) Smith and two grandchildren, Kenston and Kynslea; three brothers: George M. Brown, Augusta, GA; Lloyd W. Brown, Lincolton, GA, and Ronnie C. Brown, Augusta, GA; four sisters: Betty J. Duncan Cliffwood, New Jersey, Mattie Hanson, Hephzibah, GA; Rose Maxine Brown, Augusta, GA; and Rosa Marie (William) Tilton, Martinez, GA; a devoted adopted brother: Richard Kellogg; two aunts:
Marie Wilson Dunbar and Ida Wilson Gresham of Augusta, GA; a brothersin-law: Freddie White, Jr., Augusta, GA; two sisters-in-laws: Evarn S. Brown, Atlanta, GA and Evelyn F. Brown, Augusta, GA; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
