** OBITUARY **
"For me to live is Christ and to die is gain" said the apostle Paul. We know that this would be the message if our dear Sister Ollie M. Brown were able to give us a message today from the portals of Heaven where she has gone to be forever with the Lord.
Mrs. Ollie M. Brown was born in Jefferson County to the late Hosea Smith and Annie Lee Smith.
At an early age she was baptized at the St. Raul Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, Ga., under the leadership of the late Rev. Tom Holmes. After moving to Augusta, Ga., she united with the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. At the time of her death she was a member of the Summerville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown was married to the Rev. E. A. Brown, Pastor of Hale Street and Summerville Baptist Churches. During her life time Mrs. Brown served faithfully in various organizations. To mention a few, she served as Vice-President of The Womens Con vention of The Walker Baptist Association, she also served as a faithful choir member at Summervilie and Hale Street Churches, and an influential mission leader throughout the years. Mrs. Brown also served as Matron of Shiloh Orphange and as a member of the executive board of The Upward Bound Program. She was also affiliated with the ladies service club at the YWCA.
Mrs. Brown was loving wife and a devoted mother.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, Rev. E. A. Brown; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Chester, Mrs. Catherine Robinson and Mrs. Joan Bullock; one son, Mr. Ervin Brown Jr.; her mother, Mrs. Annie Lee Smith and one adopted daughter, Miss Lee Ann Brown; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Vivian Brown; three sons-in-law, Mr. George Chester, Mr. John Robinson and Rev. Samuel Bullock II; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; one nephew; two nieces; three aunts and one devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. Ella Brown of Buffalo, N. Y.; also a host of cousins and friends.
It is said that Fanny Crosby, the great hymn writer on her death bed said "How can anyone call it a dark valley? It is all light and love!" Then stretching her arms out to Christ, she whispered "I could run to meet Him." This dear Christian woman whom we memorialize today must have felt the same way for she loved her Lord and always wanted others to know Him.
