Katherine Smith Brooks, a native o f South Carolina and a resident of Monetta, was born December 20, 1917 in Ridge Spring, South Carolina. She is the daughter o f the late Major Smith and Bertha Harrison Smith.
At an early age she attended the local schools in Ridge Spring andjoined Ridge Hill Baptist Church. Later in life, she united in holy matrimony to the late Norris Brooks, Sr., who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with six children. One daughter, Deloris Butler preceded her in death. She also worked at Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle School as a Teacher''s Aid for several years. She was the Mother o f the Church and a missionary member. Katherine served faithfully in both capacities until her health failed She is known for her pleasant smile and pleasing personality.
T ebruary 8, 2009, God called Katherine into an eternal sleep. Her memory will be cherished by thefollowing:
~ Two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce B. (Johnny Sr.) Jones Greenwood, South Carolina; Gwen (Nathaniel) Jay, Ridge Spring, South Carolina.
~ Three sons and daughters-in-law, Norris (Patricia) Brooks, Jr., Brooklyn, New York; Randy (Annie Mae) Brooks and Larry (Marilyn) Brooks, both of Ridge Spring, South Carolina.
~ Seventeen grandchildren; and three o f whom were reared in the home, Kenneth, Andre, and Larry Brooks, Jr.
~ Thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand
~ One sister, Thelma Gary, Ridge Spring, South Carolina; one loving and devoted cousin, Bertha Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins andfriends.
