Reverend Charles E. Smith, Officiating

Mr. Henry Alex Boyette was born on May 7, 1915 in Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Henry Boyette and the late Cora Boyette. He went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 1994 at the University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.
He was converted and baptized in August 1928 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Collins, Georgia. From 1938-1942, he held the office of secretary ofthat Church and served as an usher.
Deacon Boyette joined Elim Baptist Church in August, 1942 where he was involved, for nearly fifty years, in the work of the Lord.
He was ordained as a Deacon the fifth Sunday in February, 1948 by the late Reverend Robert L. Boyd.
He has held the following positions: Chair, Board of Deacons, Treasurer of the Church, President and teacher of the Baptist Training Union (BTU), and superintendent and teacher of the Sunday School. He was instrumental in organizing the Trustee Board.
Deacon Boyetee was an actively involved member who was regular in attendance, generous in tithes and offerings, supportive of the sick and shut-in, and an inspiration to many. His love for the church, commitment, dedication, and support of all auxiliaries are evident as he is rarely absent from any church activity or service.
Deacon Boyette had a genuine love for people which led him to be involved in civic and community affairs. He was a member of the Young Mens Christian Club, a Bible study group and had served as its president for thirty years. He had a very positive outlook on life.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Mrs. Kay Frances Boyette Simmons, Warner Robins, GA and Mrs. Shirley Boyette Herrington, Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Annie L. McNeal, Daisy, GA and Mrs. Rosetta Brown, Decatur, GA; four grandchildren, Mr. Alex Simmons, Wamer Robins, GA, Ms. Sonni Herrington, Mr. Wendell Simmons and Mr. Eugene Herrington, Jr., all of Atlanta, GA; two sons-in-law, Mr. Robert Simmons, Wamer Robins, GA and Dr. Eugene Herrington, Atlanta, GA; three brothers-in-law, Mr. Kaiser McNeal, Daisy, GA, Mr. Clifford Brown, Decatur, GA and Mr. George Arnold, Detroit, MI; one sister-in-law, Ms. Dorothy Putlow, Washington, DC; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
