Obituary
Elnora Appling Blount entered into rest Friday, December 16, 2011, at her residence. Elnora was born in Augusta, GA, on April 12, 1916 to Henry and Beatrice Appling, both of whom preceded her in death. Elnora was also preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel Blount, a daughter, Christine Pinckney and her two sisters, Emma Coles and Annie Mae Chain.
Elnora was a devoted member of the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Mother of the church and a Deaconess. Elnora had a knack for cooking. As such, God would have it that she also gave tirelessly of her time and talent to the Kitchen/Culinary Ministry for over 60 years.
Elnora is survived by her four children: Mary Ann Rucker, Savannah, GA; Emma T. Gibson, Sacramento, CA; William Appling, Augusta, GA; and Betty B. Bennings, Augusta, GA; two adopted children: Robin (Gale) Armstrong, Eagle River, AK and Phillip (Roseann) McKnight, Marietta, GA; two sisters: Edith Hyrams and Ruth Montgomery; her grandchildren: Theresa Rucker, Terry Rucker, Willie Rucker, Daphine Gibson, Greg Gibson, Yolanda Gibson, Tammy (Freddie) Cabading, Latrella Ardis, Marisa Appling, William Appling, Jr., Amanda Appling, Sharon Tate, Rhondi Bennings, Harold (Judy) Pinckney, Tajuna Harris, Jeffery (Helen) Pinckney, Veatrice (James) Martin, Otellia Love and Rodney (Ann) Pinckney; nieces: Roslyn Edgerton, Anniece Blount and Brenda J. Blount; nephews, Joseph Blount, Harold Blount, Isaac Blount, Adrian Blount, James Blount, Jack Martin, Sam Martin and Henry Martin; adopted grandson: Tywann T. Brantley; two "grand-dogs:" Sugar Bear Appling and Bailey Bennings, 38 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great grandchildren.
