"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven "
Time to Die:
The windows of heaven opened on Sunday evening at approximately nine /oclock on August 1 4, 2005 at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia and
welcomed our dear son, grand-son, father, brother and friend, Bobby Blackwell, ST., home. He was greeted by his grandparents who reared him, Mi Lace Rouse, Jr., and Mrs. Nora Hicks Murray Rouse, his parents, Mr. Dave & Lylet Blackwell, daughter, Yvette and eldest son, Derrick, brothers Hosea and Jesse Blackwell.
Time to be Bom: Mr. Bobby Blackwell, Sr., was bom in Lincoln County, Lincolnton, Georgia on April 14, 1939 to the late Mr. Dave V. Blackwell and Mrs. Lylet Murray Blackwell.
Time to Plant:
Bobby Blackwell was reared in Lincolnton Georgia. He joined New Tabernacle Baptist Church at an early age under the late Reverend J.W. Willis. He graduated from Lincoln County Training School, in Lincolnton, Georgia in 1 960. Following high school he attended and graduated from Boorhees College of Denmark, South Carolina. After college he briefly worked for Babcock Company, then he later became co-owner of Blackwell & Hawes Construction Company, in Lincolnton, Georgia. He built many beautiful brick homes, and also developed two sub-division housing areas, he was also instrumental in the blueprint for New Tabernacle Baptist Church (formerly Upper Tabernacle) . He moved to Augusta, Georgia in the mid sixties, where he and his family joined Tabernacle Baptist Church under the late Dr. C.S. Hamilton, where he served as a faithful Usher and Trustees under the late Dr. Hamilton and Otis B. Moss III, until his health began to fail. The first home tha he built in Martinez, Georgia was for his eldest sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Blackwell Elam.
Time to Love:
x. Bobby Blackwell, Sr. married Ms. Julia Dozier in 1 961 into this union three children were bom, Yvette, Derrick and Bobby Lee Blackwell, Jr. He later /married Mrs. Sarah F. Zellars into this union no children were bom.
Time to Mourn:
He leaves to cherish his memories; a loyal and devoted son, Mr. Bobby Lee Blackwell, Jr., of Augusta, Georgia, his future caring, supportive and loving daughter-in-law; Ms. Christy Wooten of Waycross, Georgia; a very loving, mothering sister, Mrs. Elizabeth (Moss, Sr.) Elam of Lincolnton, Georgia; a brother, Mr. Elijah Blackwell, of Martinez, Georgia; a step-sister, Mrs. Mary B. (Graylin) Hairston, of Charlotte, North Carolina; a special niece, Mrs. Marion E. Bennett, of Martinez, Georgia (currently lives with her family in the first house built in Martinez) ; a step-daughter, Ms. Daphine Zellars of Augusta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special close friend Mr. Al Davis of Augusta, Georgia.
