OBITUARY
Mrs. Hattie Smith Black, of 305 Webster Road, went to her final resting place, Wednesday, January 26,2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Black was one of six siblings born the late Edward and Minnie Cureton. She was married to the late Samuel A. Smith of Greenville and the late Alien Black of Youngstown, Ohio.
She was a graduated of Benedict College where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. As a dedicated teacher she loved children and believed they should be educated both academically and socially. She retired from the Greenville County School District after more than thirty years of service.
Mrs. Black was a loving and giving person. She lead an active life and was a faithful worshiper of Christ. A long time member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she served on numerous committees.
Mrs. Black was involved in several social and community organizations. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., having been inducted into Epsilon Tau Omega Chapter of Greenville in 1954 and a member of Greenville Chapter of Links, Inc., Eight-Thirty Club and the Hostess Club. Her passion was observing and respecting nature which she demonstrated through her love for gardening and her immense joy for long country rides.
Those surviving to cherish her memories are her sister, Mildred Chapman of Buffalo, New York; three nieces; two nephews; several great-nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

How much more I appreciate you now than when we were kids!
