Mr. Leonard Bernard Setts, beloved husband, father,

Mr. Berts was born on October 29, 1932 in Wendell, North Carolina to the late Georgia and Ernest Betts. He attended primary and secondary education in the Fuquay Springs school district graduating from Fuquay Consolidated High School in 1950. He furthered his education earning a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Industrial Arts from A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1955.
He completed a two-year commitment in the United States Army Signal Corps. Later he moved to the Washington, D.C. area and married Lucille Wallace and to this union two children were born. There he had a thirty-two year career with the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor, Researcher and Electrical Technician retiring in 1988. He joined and began worshipping at Shiloh Baptist Church of Landover, Maryland. There he served as Minister of Education, member of the Deacon Board, Sunday School teacher, Audio & Video technician, church bus driver and craftsman during church construction. These among many other varied tasks enhanced the spiritual growth of the church family and surrounding community. In 1991, Mr. Betts moved to Augusta, Georgia and married Christine Wilkins Miller. This union knitted the hearts of two families as one. He transferred his membership to Tabernacle Baptist Church and applied his many talents; he taught Sunday School, sang with the Male Chorus, supervised the Tape Ministry, taught Bible Classes and worked with the Prison Ministry His community service included volunteer work with the Lucy Craft Laney Museum and the operations of the Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries (DCCM) where his efforts ensured that those in need received food and clothing. In every ministry Mr. Betts served, he had a positive influence on the lives he touched.

ccNo moregriefor sorrow, No more suffering or pain, Now there is everlasting peace Because the angels came. Only God knows what is best And Recently holds my hand Guiding me to a better place Because the angels came.
When the sun rises tomorrow anal answer not my name Please don't cry ... rejoice with me Because the angels came.
I now can rest in peace As I never could, before I answered thegentle knock Ofthe angels at my door. So please don't mourn for me As new wings I Now claim I can take my flight to heaven Because the angels came."
- The Family

T]ke LORD is my shepherd; shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Tea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a tabk before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
