OBITUARY
The flowers discharge their bright ministry of love, elaborate their seed and die, but not until their work is done. The mighty oak retains its vigor fo r ages, but falls at last. The insect race fades with the leaf and dies with the dying year. Their span is brief, but they have fin ished their work and drop into timely dissolution, thus it is with all of the tribes of animated nature.
But fo r man, death comes all seasons, and ages. The cradle is his, childhood and youth, the prime of manhood and womanhood is his, he blights the freshness of hope and promise and clothes in the garments of the grave, those bound most closely by the ties of life.
Mr. Luther Berry the son of the late John H. and Mabell Berry was born in Marion County, South Carolina, and departed this life on Friday, January 14, 1966 at 11:15 P.M. in the Anderson Memorial Hos pital.
He joined the Beulah Methodist Church at an early age. Later, af ter coming to Anderson, he joined the Thompson Centennial Methodist Church where he served as a superintendent of the Sunday School, trustee, steward, church lay leader, and president of the Methodist men.
To his church, he was faithful, loyal non-tiring and dependable. Truly he was an instrument for the Master.
He has served as teacher of agriculture in the West Side High School since 1950 where he was presently employed. During his em ployment he supported the total program o f the school, community, county and state. He served as Federation Advisor of the New Farm ers of America Upper Federation. Member of the Anderson County Teachers Association, Palmetto Education Association and National Education Association.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Mrs. Annette Jackson Berry, one son Chevalier R. Berry o f the home. Three sisters, Pauline and Bertha M. Berry of Marion, S. C., Mrs. Christine Washing ton of Brooklyn, N. Y.; two brothers, Cornelius Berry of Marion, S. C. and John D. Berry of Brooklyn, N. Y. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Another soldier gone
To get a great reward;
He fought the fight he kept the faith, And now he has gone home to God.
