** OBITUARY **
Mr. John Maxwell Baskett, II, the son of the late Dea. John Maxwell Baskett, I and Sis. Janie Lee Baskett was born January 1918.
At an early age he joined the Spring Grove Baptist Church. Bro. John Maxwell Baskett, II invested his many talents into good works making many friends. He served in many ways civic and religious organizations. He had nothing kept from home making and family care.
With little warning death plucked a flower from the Baskett family garden. He departed February 9, 1983 in a Los Angeles, California hospital after a brief illness.
John was educated in Edgefield County Public School, and continued his education in Augusta, Georgia. He was joined in Holy Wedlock to Miss Flossie Blanchard and to this union one son was born.
He leaves to mourn a wife, Flossie Baskett; one son, Attorney John Maxwell Baskett, III, Los Angeles, Calif; his devoted mother, Mrs. Janie Lee Baskett, North Augusta, S.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Key, Homestead, Fla., Miss Sallie Baskett, Atlanta, Ga., and Miss Mattie Baskett, Augusta, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Isaiah Key, Homestead, Fla.; six nieces, Mrs. Virginia Me Queen, Augusta, Ga., Mrs. LeVessie Davis and Mrs. Annie Dorsett, Florida City, Fla., Mrs. Dorothy Zeigler, Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Gladys Martin, Bath, S.C., and Mrs. Marie Abraham, North Augusta, S.C.; one nephew, Mr. William V. McKie, Augusta, Ga.; five great nieces and three great nephews; two great great nieces and two great great nephews.
