Obsequies for Francis Eugene Barnwell, Sunday, June 19, 1966, 1:00 p.m., Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Eastover, South Carolina, Dr. H. E. Hardin, Minister, officiating

Mr. Francis Eugene Barnwell, born January 15, 1901 in Bamberg County. The son of Mildred and Henry Barnwell departed this life Wednesday, June 15, 1966.
In 1925 he was joined in holy matrimony to Miss Esther Adams of Orangeburg, S. C. To this union two sons were born.
He joined Gethsemane Baptist Church of Bamberg in 1914. For 38 years he was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Clerk.
His Elementary education was completed in Bamberg County. Higher Education at S. C. State College Where he earned the B. S. and M. S. degrees.
He served as principal of the Webber Public School from 1928-1955. His remaining years he served as teacher of agriculture.
During World War II he served on the war ration board and received a citation from President Roosevelt.
He maintained membership in all professional or ganizations, and was active in local community affairs. Secretary of the Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge # 434, and a licensed notary.
Survivors: his wife, Mrs. Esther Adams Barnwell, two sons, Charles Eugene of Eastover, S. C. and Robert Henry of Aiken, S. C ., one brother William Henry Barnwell of Bamberg, S. C., one sister Mrs. Emma J . Haynes Branchville, S. C ., three aunts, and two uncles. Five grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
