OBITUARY
Mr. A rtis Odell Barnes, w as born in Saluda, South Carolina, on January 14th, 1930, he w as the son of Johnnie Barnes and the late Emma Barnes.
He attended th e Rosew ald High School of Saluda, South Carolina. He m arried the fo rm e r Vera G raham , on February 25th, 1948. He w as a m em ber of th e Rock Hill Baptist Church, of Saluda, South Carolina. He m igrated to P hiladelphia, w h e re he w as employed as a co n stru c tion worker. He w as a m em ber of th e S uprem e G rand Lodge of the Internation al Free and Accepted M odern M asons, Inc., of Philadelphia. He departed th is life at his residence, on Monday, December 29th, 1986. He leaves to m ourn th e ir loss, but to cherish precious m emories: his w ife, Vera G. Barnes; seven ch ild re n , J o h n n y 0., Betty, A rtis, Jr., Christine Bell, V ernhell Stokes, of Tampa, Fla, Sylvester and Vera Delois Barnes; th irte e n grandchild ren, his fa th e r Mr. Johnnie Barnes; brothers, Ulysses, of W a sh in g to n , D.C., J o h n n ie F., of Pleasantville, New Jersey; sisters, Rosalie M im m s, of W ashington, D.C., Alberta Brooks, of Newark, New Jersey; nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
