Sister Austin's Work in Augusta
Sister Austin organized The WTHB Young People's Choir on January 15* 1963 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church. It was organized with about fifty young people.
The purpose of organizing this'Choir* as Sister Austin stated was* "To train young people the proper way in which Christians should conduct themselves* talk and sing." She emphasized the importance of proper dress and above all* "To tell dying women and men in song that there's a reality in serving a true and living God,"
It was the purpose of this organization to curb juvenile delinquency and make good* solid* God fearing American citizens out of its members.
This is what Sister Austin gave her life for in this community. The Choir now has eighty members and it is going various places so that the lost may know there is a God who loves and cares for them.
May God bless the memory of Sister Austin.
"Sleep on now and take your rest. We love you* but God loved you best."
