Obituary
James "Big Red" Anderson was born April , 1925 in Augusta, Georgia to the late James and Gladys Anderson. He had three siblings.
blessed with great vocal cords, tenacity, perseverance and a special anointing from God, "Big Red," as he is lovingly and affectionally called, traveled around the globe singing traditional gospel songs with the renowned Swanee Quintet since the early 40s lifting the name of Jesus Christ.
James was a long time member of the Silver Bluff baptist Church.
During his life, James wrote many songs performed by the group. These songs would not only uplift your spirt, but encourage your soul.
James had performed in places as prestigious as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Apollo Theater and the House of Slues to name a few. He performed with gospel icons such as Shirley Caesar, The Mighty clouds of Joy, The Canton Spiritual, The Williams Brothers, and The Blind Boys. He also received recognition from Bill Cosby, The Reverends Jesse Jackson and AI Sharpton, Lou Rawls, many dignitaries the world over and of course our own James 'Sfrown,
When not traveling he enjoyed fishing.
His motto: When men say you can't tell him with God you can.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Willie Mae; brother, Overn (Dorothy) Anderson of Augusta, Georgia; step daughter, Mary E.
