FAREWELL IN AUTUMN
Not in winter, not in storm Nor when spring buds are calling, But in autumn's quiet charm While russet leaves are falling.
The good earth turns herself to rest After her time of growing, Drawing her children to her breast, To wait a richer sowing.
So in his autumn's golden day, Her earthly life forsaking, In quiet peace she passed away To meet the last awakening.
