FOSTINE ELIZABETH LEWIS ANDERSON was born in Jewel, Georgia in 1924 on April 13th to the late Robert and Marion Lewis.
She began her education at Weed Elementary School and graduated from Haines Institute. Fostine furthered her studies at Paine College.
At an early age, she joined Elim Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia where she was a very active member and faithfully attended until her death. She was a dedicated member of the Elim Senior Choir for more than forty years, and was recognized by the church for her dedication. In October of this year, she was also recognized for being one the oldest members of the congregation.
Fostine was employed by the Richmond County Board of Education for many years. As an employee, she lovingly worked with students in the area of special education. She worked at Thtt High School and Weed Elementary, and when she retired she was working as a traveling music special education assistant.
On the hill, Fostine, affectionately known by many as "Flossie", was well-known for her beautification of many heads of hair. Her beauty shop was a place for not only the doing of hair, but also a place filled with love and fellowship. She also was the neighborhood free taxi, shuttling friends and neighbors to and fro.
Fostine is survived by: her dedicated, loving daughter, Kathy along with her husband Doug, who was like a son to her. She also was proud to be "Grandma" to Nicholas and Matthew. She was godmother to Dr. Hawthorne Welcher. She also leaves a loving and dedicated caregiver Gwendolyn Gibson. Many family members and friends are left to mourn her passing.

Don't spend too much time in mourning; tears are for the sad. I left to he with Jesus and that should make you glad. Don't waste your hours in grieving,no need to feel distress, I'm tired of life's frustrations and had to have some rest. Don't vex yourself with questions or try to reason why. Life here for me has ended, it came my time to die. Don't lose the love I gave you, feed it with your care. Grow it with devotion and spread it everywhere. Don't fret because my leaving came in such a way, we'll have another meeting in God's Eternal Day.
The family of the late Fostine Anderson wishes to thank each individual for every kind and considerate act shown during their bereavement. We will always remember and be grateful for the many expressions of sympathy and the deeds of kindness extended to us. WE THANK YOU!
