OBITUARYV

"Sister, thou wast mild and lovely, Gentle as the summer breeze, Pleasant as the air of evening, When it floats among the trees*" These word are very fitting in toll ing of the life of firs. Mary Alien, daughter of the late Mary F. and Eddie Booker, born in Uilkes County, Georgia on July 9,18&4. She departed this life on Friday, October 25,1974 at the age of 90.

She moved to Augusta, Georgia at an early

age. She was converted and baptised at Thankful

Baptist Church during the pastorage of the late

Rev, Cyrus Wilkins. She served Thankful as a

member of the Senior Choir, The Missionary Soc

iety, The Loyal Workers Club and was a member

of the Home Department of the Sunday School.

She was faithful to these organizations before

her health failed because she enjoyed the fell

owships and wanted to do whatever she could to

help in the progress of hoi- church.

She was united in holy wedlock to the late

Ilr. David Alien and to this union one son was

born.

She loved people,and did everything that she

could to help them and to encourage those with

she came in contact.

She leaves to mourn her passing a devoted son

and daughter-in-law, Ernest Alien and Emma Jean

Alien. A friend and companion,Ilrs, Lillie Hayes

Nieces, nephews, cousins, a god-child, other

relatives and friends.

Peaceful in the grave so low;

Thou no more our songs shalt know.

Yet again we hope to meet thee,

When the day of"life is fled;

Then in heaven viith joy to greet thee

Where no farewell tear is shed.
