AGNES "MOTHER DEAR" MARTIN ALEXANDER, 94, departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Amara Healthcare in Augusta, Georgia.
Agnes was born in Monticello, Florida on February 22,1922 to the late Elizabeth Hargrave and John Martin, Jr.
She was married for thirty years to the late Reverend James Alexander, Sr. and together they raised ten children. Agnes was a faithful housewife and she enjoyed taking care of her children. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching others indulged in her scrumptious home cooked meals. After her husband retired, Agnes began to work outside of the home where she was dedicated to providing for the needs of others as she went into various homes and provided private duty healthcare/home services.
Agnes was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church for sixty-five years where she joyfully served on Stewardess Board #1. She served several years as President and Treasurer of her board. She also served as a prayer warrior. She loved her church family and looked forward to attending church until her declining health prevented her attendance.
She was the youngest of four siblings (Willie, Ethel, Annie Mae and Frank); all preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Phillip.
Leaving to cherish her memories include: five sons, James Alexander, Jr. of Augusta, GA, David Alexander (Jyce) f Ocala, FL, Reverend Samuel Alexander of Augusta, GA, Benjamin Alexander (Allesia) of Lithonia, GA and John Alexander of Augusta, GA; four daughters, Josephine Alexander Hall of Washington, DC, Elizabeth Alexander of Takoma Park, MD, Louise Warren of Augusta, GA and Carolyn Brown (Lee) of High Point, NC; alongside her children, she raised two of her grandchildren, Hilda Alexander of Ewing Township, NJ and LaTosha Neal of Lexington, SC; twenty-four grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; a nephew, Eric Martin (Ewie) of Sanford, FL; three special friends, Betty Jones, Mamie (Sam) Smith and Josephine Taylor; and a host of in-laws and friends.

TO OUR MOTHER - A VIRTUOUS WOMAN
A MOTHER'S LOVE IS ALWAYS EXPRESSED.
SOMETIMES IN WAYS THAT CHILDREN MAY NOT THINK BEST. HER LOVE IS KIND AND IT GOES DEEP.
HER WORDS ARE GENTLE. HER SMILE so SWEET.
SHE GIVES TO HER CHILDREN WHEN SHE DOESN'T HAVE FOR HERSELF; BECAUSE THE HAPPINESS OF HER CHILDREN IS WHAT GIVES HER WEALTH.
A MOTHER'S LOVE GOES BEYOND HER PRESENCE ON THIS EARTH;
BECAUSE HER LOVE IS EMBEDDED WITHIN HER CHILDREN EVEN BEFORE BIRTH. OUR SWEET MOTHER DEAR, WE NEVER WANTED YOU TO DEPART; BUT KNOW THAT YOUR SWEET MEMORIES WILL FOREVER BE SEALED IN OUR HEARTS.
'WE LOVE YOU MOTHER DEAR AND YOUR LEGACY WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE THROUGH US.' YOUR CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN, AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN
The family wishes to express sincere thanks and appreciation for all expressions of sympathy and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement. Special thanks to Amara Health Care and Ms. Terry Ray, Bethel A.M.E. Church, and the Alexander Family.
