OBITUARY
MISS MARJORIE ADAMS, 66, of 338 Bowling Avenue, Columbia, South Carolina, died Saturday. She was bom in Richland County, SC, and was the daughter of the late Mr. James and Mrs. Lubertha Thompson Adams.
She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and continued to pursue higher education graduating from Benedict College in 1945. After teaching school for several years, she continued to work toward her masters degree at Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Miss Adams taught school in York, Jasper and Edgefield Counties for thirty-one years. She retired from the public school system in 1976.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Nellie A. Newton of Columbia; a brother, Mr. Lewis Adams of Columbia; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Willie Mae Adams; a niece, Ms. Karen J. Newton of San Antonio, Texas, two nephews, Mr. James E. Newton, Jr. of San Diego, California and Mr. Terrence L. Newton of San Antonio, Texas; two grand nieces; two grand nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
