(PiUuviy,
Lyla Mae Adams, the daughter of the late John Wesley and the late Arie Bell Adams, was bom November 26, 1923, in Aiken County, SC. She shared her early family life with five brothers: the late John Adams, Jr., the late Golden Adams, the late Willis Adams, the late Frank Adams and Governor (Gensie) Adams of Hopkins, SC.; two sisters, the late Martha Delony and the late Arie Bell Craig. She married and shared her life with the late John Quincy Adams. From their union, God blessed them with three children: Juanita Patricia Adams of Saluda, SC, Darnell Quincy Adams of Johnston, SC and Larry Vanoy Adams (Thomasenia) of Gainesville, FL, six grandchildren: Zebedee Cleo Adams, Jason Darnell Adams, Kimberly Nicole Adams, Blake Dozier Adams, Philip Reid Adams and Kurt Edward Adams, and one great grandson, Jashon Darnell Adams. She received her early education from the public schools of Aiken, SC. She received a degree from Bettis Academy in Trenton, SC and completed studies at Allen University, Columbia, SC. She taught children at Fruit Hill Public School. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her home church is Zion Hill Baptist Church, Aiken, SC. During her life she also gave service to God at Penn Creek Baptist Church and Peaceful Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, choir leader, and an usher. She was also active in the community as evidenced by her collection of funds to keep the Council on Aging open for service. She enjoyed sewing clothes and quilts, working in her garden and yard planting flowers, canning foods and caring for her family.

Farewell to Mother
Mother, you have always been there for us, wiping our running noses, staying up all night when we were sick, teaching us the value of hard work, disciplining us with a compassionate hand, encouraging us to do our very best, directing us to be kind-hearted and most of all teaching us to love, honor, lean on and depend on God. We will not waste the seeds you planted in our lives. We will always cherish your memory and be thankful to God for blessing us with you.
Juanita, Darnell, and Larry
