CURTIS NAPOLEON ADAMS, SR., affectionately known at "Curt," was born March 28, 1931 in Waycross, Georgia. He was the youngest of six children born to the late Joe Nathan (J.N.) Adams and Viola Virgil Adams.
Curtis was educated in the Waycross public schools. Upon graduation from Center High School, he attended South Carolina State College (now South Carolina State University) in Orangeburg. There he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1953. He was awarded his Dental Degree from Howard University in 1962.

He held life memberships in the following organizations: The National Dental Association, The NAACP and the South Carolina State University Alumni Association.
He has volunteered and served on the Health and Welfare Council of Central Maryland, The Model Cities Policy Steering Board and The Big Brothers of Central Maryland.

Curtis has also received many community service awards including: The 1988 Alumnus of the Year from South Carolina State College and the Govenor's Citation for service to the community in honor of his expression of Maryland volunteerism and tireless efforts. Curtis' legacy of his contributions will live within the lives of those he touched.
Church was an important part of Curtis' life. For more than twenty-five years, he was a member of Heritage United Church of Christ, where he served as President of the Church Council and also in the capacity of trustee. Before his health began to fail, he enjoyed participating in the Monday afternoon Soup and Sandwich Bible Study Group.
In addition to Jean, his loving wife of forty-seven years, Curtis leaves to cherish his memory: two children, Dr. Cheryl Denise Adams-Williams and Dr. Curtis Napoleon Adams, Jr.; two sisters, Madame Ola Adams and Dr. Dorothy Adams Peck; brother, Professor Samuel Adams Sr. and one adopted brother, Deleavis Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Thennye, Elenora and Inez Adams; daughter-in-law, Dr. Melanie Adams; two granddaughters, Curtir and Emily; two grandsons, Connor and Curtis III (Trey). Curtis was preceded in death by his brothers, James Sr. and Dr. Carlton Z. Adams, Sr.
Curtis will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
