Dear Sir:.
In answer to your letter of the 10th inst. [instant] In regard to Matching Texas Tanner against a macon Boy. The very best Proposition I can make at this time is I am willing to give the promoter 50% of the receipts and he is to pay the fighters I have a good boy here to fight Tanner and have arranged with him to take 10% of the receipts if he loses or 15% if he wins which I think is reasonable. I will pay for the cost of the advertising providing you see that it is put out properly. I will advance transportation which will come out of your money. You will have to pay for the pleminaries [preliminaries] out of your share have quite a few good boys here to match anybody you bring over you could arrange that when you get here. When I put on a fight here it kills my business for the day and I have to look out for that end My house seats a thousand and as to what we can draw and the price we can get will arrange that when you get here as I am willing to charge all you think they will stand. The boy we have here is supposed to be the best in Macon and from what I here [hear] he draws a good house. There is one thing I want understood before you take this proposition is that this fight goes on as advertised regardless of weather [whether] we have a crowd or not as this fight will have a lot to do as to wether [whether] we can put on more fights or not as far as the public is concerned. and I want your word as man for man in regard to this. If this proposition suits you yo [you] can use this letter as a contract and we would like to put this fight on Tuesday the 26th of July. Our man Battling Jim ie [is] weight 170. Let me hear from you at once as we are going to put on fight on this date.
Yours very truly
