AIHLINE TRIP INSURANCE; You may purchase insurance cavering your trip anywhere in North
America or Hawaii at any Northwest office. Maximum insurance is $62,500, obtainable in units
of $0,250 at a cost of $.25 per unt.
AIR TAXI SERVICE: This service is available at many cities served by NWA to off-line points.
BAGGAGE: "Baggage" includes all luggage, such as brief cases, packages, typewriters,
camera equipment and similar articles, whether carried in the cabin, ar checked prior to
boarding. Free baggage allowances are: (a) 40 lbs. when traveling first class or tourist entirely
within the U.S. and Canada; (b) 44 lbs. when traveling to or from Hawaii; (c) 66 lbs. when
traveling first class or tourist between Seattle and Anchorage, or Minneapolis/St. Paul and
Anchorage via Edmonton; (d) 66 lbs. first class, or 44 lbs. tourist when traveling between
U.S. cities and Seattle, in connection with travel to or from Alaska; and (e) 66 lbs. first class or
44 lbs. tourist when traveling to, from, or within the Orient. For baggage in excess of free
allowance, the charge is: (a) Vi of 1% per lb. of the adult first class one-way fare for travel
within the U.S. and Canada; (b) 1% per kilo of the adult first class one-way fare for travel
to, from, or within Hawaii or the Orient; (c) 1 % per kilo of the applicable one-way fare for
travel between Seattle and Anchorage. Minimum charge is 25c. North'^est's liability for baggage
will not exceed $100 per passenger traveling to, from, or within the Orient; or $250 per
passenger traveling within the U.S. and Canada, or to and from Hawaii or Alaska. You may
declare o higher valuation and pay a slight additional charge.
BERTH ACCOMMODATIONS: Berths are available on most DC-7C and DC-8C flights.
CAR RENTAL SERVICE: Automobiles are available for rental at practically all cities served
by Northwest (see car-rental listing in the table of NWA offices in this folder). When making
your reservation, you may request your Northwest agent to orrange that a car be waiting
for you on arrival.
CHECK-IN TIME; Passengers expect on-time performance. In your best interests, we request
you report to the Northwest ticket counter at least 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure
of your flight. For international trips, allow at least one hour for customs cleoronce. Your reser-
vation is subject to cancellation if you do not appear at least 10 minutes prior to departure.
CHILDREN'S FARES; (a) One child under 2 years, not occupying a seat or berth and accom-
panied by a full'fare passenger, will be carried free on services within the U.S. and Canada,
or to Alaska. On services to Hawaii orthe Orient, 10% of the adult fare is charged, (b) Children
under 2 years occupying a seat, and children under 12 years, when accompanied, are charged
50% of the adult fare, (c) Unless prior arrangement is made, children under 8 years must be
accompanied by an adult, (d) Children between 12 to 22 years pay % of one-way fare if
traveling under Family Plan.
FAMILY PLAN; With purchase of a first-class one-way ticket for travel within the 48 adjoining
states and the District of Columbia between 12:01 p. m. Mondays thru 1 2:01 p. m. Thursdays,
and at any time on Saturdays, you may buy additional tickets at % price for your spouse and
all children 12 through 22 years of age to accompany you. One child under 2 years not
occupying a seat may travel free.
GffOUNO TRANSPORTAT/ON; In all cities served. Northwest has arranged with independent
aperators for fransportion at reasonable rates between downtown areas and the airports.
See the listing of NWA offices in this folder for fares and pickup times.
SCHEDULED HELICOPTER SERVICE is available from airports in Chicago, New York City,
Seattle, and Los Angeles to many points in their Respective Metropolitan Areas. At
New York, there will be no additional charges for this service, in most cases. If you are
traveling to or from a point west of Detroit.
HONOLULU TEMPERATURE INSURANCE: If on your trip to Hawaii, the noon temperature in
Honolulu is less than 75 for more than one-half of your stay (providing your trip exceeds 5
days), the underwriter will refund your entire NWA round trip fare in most cases. See your
NWA agent for complete details.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS: Your Northwest agent will be happy to assist you in making hotel
reservations at any city on our international system.
INCLUSIVE TORS; Ail-expense Northwest Air Vacations are available to many domestic and
international cities. Consult any Northwest oFFice or your travel agent for complete details.
PETS; Suitably confined pets may be carried in the cargo compartment on DC-8, Prop-Jet and
freighter flights. Contact your Northwest office for arrangements.
RECONFIRMATION; You must reconfirm your reservation at least 6 hours before departure
for a return or continuing flight scheduled to leave on a date other than the date of your
arrival in that city, and when there are 1 2 hours or more between the planned arrival and
the scheduled departure time of your confirmed flight.
RESERVATIONS; You may obtain reservations for any flight by telephoning, wiring, or writing
any Northwest Orient Airlines office, a travel agent, or hotel transportation desk. Reservations
are tentative until tickets are purchased. It your plans change, please cancel your reservation as
far in advance as possible so that other passengers can be accommodated.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEPARTURES, ARRIVALS, AND CONNECTIONS; Northwest is not
responsible for failure of aircraft to depart or arrive on scheduled time, or failure to make
connections with other flights.
SCHEDULES AND FARES: All schedules and fares are subject to change without notice, and
Northwest is not responsible for errors therein.
STOPOVERS; You may stopover at any city enroute, provided your reservation is made accord-
ingly. For stopovers between cities within the U.S. the combination of fares over the stopover
points would apply. Stopovers may be made at no additional cost when in connection with Inter-
national travel.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: For international travel, you must possess valid passports, visas, cer-
tificates, or other documents as required by the countries involved. You may obtain specific
information from any Northwest office.
