- Description:
- A black and white photograph of the exterior of the South Hall building at Atlanta University. Built in 1870, South Hall provided space for a boys' dormitory, classrooms, and religious services. South Hall was the second building on the new fifty acre Atlanta University campus, located on the west side of downtown Atlanta. Atlanta University opened on October 13, 1869. The University offered training for African American students of all ages including kindergarten, grade school, normal industrial, academy and college.
