- The AUC Library hosted the Asa G. Hillard, III Symposium, "Return to the Source", a two-day symposium celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Hilliard with his family, friends, colleagues, students, and educators. Day 1 of the symposium featured Truer of Voice special speakers Dr. Wade Ifagbemi Sangodare Nobles, Dr. Gregory Carr, and Marimba cover topics about Dr. Hilliard's mindset and legacy, his instructions on education and repair for Afrikan power, and his teachings about Afrikan culture and identity, and more. The three Mbongi sessions facilitated conversations around Dr. Hilliard's subjects on geopolitics and the Afrikan World, the Afrikan family and the socialization of children, "To Be Afrikan, or Not to Be," and "The Maroon Within Us." The Q&A sessions highlight ways to honor the legacy of Dr. Hilliard and apply his teachings in today's context. The symposium shares content from the Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III Papers in the AUC Woodruff Library's Archives Research Center and a special viewing of the full collection at the end of the event.
