- Description:
- Newspaper article discussing the important role played by the Afro-Exonian Society (AES) in shaping the lives of many Black students at Exeter. The AES's original goal was to educate the Academy community about the needs and values of Black America. However, the organization was increasingly criticized for being too insular and separatist. The organization provided a space for Black students to come together, share their experiences, and build community. The AES also helped to raise awareness of Black issues on campus, and inspired other students to get involved in the fight for racial justice.
