- Carte-de-visite photograph of Richard A. Brown. Brown joined the Sumter Light Guards, a unit that became Co. K, 4th Georgia Infantry. He rose from 1st corporal to 5th sergeant, and was wounded during the Peninsula Campaign at King's School House, virginia, on June 25, 1862. Just days later he was wounded a 2nd time, during the battle at malvern Hill on July 1. Weeks later he was wounded a third time, September 17, at Sharpsburg (Antietam). He later transferred to the 64th Georgia Infantry, where he became captain of Co. H in September 1863. He was captured at Deep Bottom, Virginia, August 16, 1864, and released from Fort Delaware on June 17, 1865.
