- Robert Flournoy was born into an affluent family in Prince Edward County, Virginia in 1763. After moving to the Revolutionary War, Robert amassed large land holdings in 11 counties. Mr. Flournoy married Mary Willis Cobb and fathered 9 children. Robert served several terms in the Georgia legislature as a Representative and Senator. Capt, Flournoy moved to Chatham County late in his life and purchased three plantations. Mr. Flournoy separated from his wife and died in Lexington, Georgia.
