I'M FREE
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then jill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with ties of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me now; He set me FREE!

ll human beings need to feel special and know they are appreciated. We all need to be revered and above all else, loved. Everyone who had the distinct honor of knowing Mrs. Joyce Zachery has been made to feel all of the above: special, appreciated, revered, and loved.
On the morning of June 20, 1940, the Lord blessed Jimmie and Lula Maddox with their first and only daughter, Joyce. Joyce and her younger brother, Aubrey were privileged to be raised by parents who instilled in them the love of God. This love would propel Joyce through her life to follow the plans He had for her.
Motivated by her fondness for beauty and style, Joyce moved from Georgia to Missouri, where she attended and graduated from cosmetology school. While away from home, she also received her real estate license and nursing degree. Her next milestone was that of marriage, subsequently gaining her most cherished position as mother of a darling baby girl, Donita.
Upon moving back to Georgia, Joyce spent some time working in the medical profession as a nurse, but her dedication to the education of young children drew her into the next career in which she would flourish, as an administrative assistant in the Atlanta Public School system. After 35 years of faithful service in several schools, she retired to a life that could be fully devoted to her first love, her family. She enjoyed many happy years together with her devoted husband, Charles Zachery.
Her hard work, diligence, and commitment to service were witnessed not only by her family and friends at work, but also by those who knew her from church. During her early years she was a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church, where she used her gifts of singing and playing the piano to bless the parishioners Sunday after Sunday. Later, she joined Antioch Baptist Church North under the pastorate of Reverend Cameron M. Alexander. There, she was a faithful member of the Adult Choir as well as the president of the June Birthday Ministry.
On the afternoon of March 23, Joyce departed from this earthly life to her eternal one in Glory. She is now able to rejoice with her parents, Jimmie and Lula, her husband, Charles, niece & nephew, Kirk and Tazanya, and great-granddaughter, Noel Monet.
Joyce's beautiful, sweet spirit of will continue to live on through her beloved daughter, Donita; brother, Aubrey, sister-in-law, Betty, granddaughter and grandson, Tia and Keith, nephew, Eric, great-grandchildren, Kemonte, Kemarian, Keith, Jesiah, and Mia as well as her dear sister-friend, Ellen Wilborn, and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
